Philip Morant

Philip Morant was an English clergyman, author and historian who lived in the 18th century.
He attended Abingdon School but came from Colchester, Essex, UK. There is now a school named after him (The Philip Morant School and College), in Prettygate, an area near the town Colchester, his place of birth.
Morant wrote The History and Antiquities of Colchester , published in 1748 and The History and Antiquities of the County of Essex published in two volumes between 1763 and 1768.
