Philip Lawson (baritone)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philip Lawson is a baritone with The King's Singers, and the group's main arranger.

Philip switched from counter-tenor to baritone in 1978 at age 21. He sang in London for The BBC Singers and St. Paul's Cathedral Choir, at the same time as his current King's Singers colleague Paul Phoenix. From 1982 Philip was a Lay Clerk in Salisbury Cathedral Choir and Director of Music of Chafyn Grove Preparatory School until he was chosen to join The King's Singers in 1993, replacing founder-member Simon Carrington.

Philip is still touring and recording with the group and is currently the group's main arranger, as well as a composer of vocal music in his own right with nearly a hundred published works.
