From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philip Baxter College is a residential college at the University of New South Wales in Kensington, Sydney, Australia.

Along with Basser and Goldstein Colleges, Philip Baxter College forms part of The Kensington Colleges, a self-managing entity which now falls under the jurisdiction of the UNSW Housing Office. It houses 232 residents, making it the largest residential college associated with the university. In 2007 it received around 110 new residents or "freshers". The college was named after Sir Philip Baxter, a former Vice-Chancellor at UNSW [1] and Chairman of the Sydney Opera House Trust.

Baxter college participates in many on-campus and intercollege activities including the inter-college sports competition, The Ruth Wheen Cup (a culturally focused competition within The Kensington Colleges and at present, Baxter College holds both the Women's and Men's sports trophies and the Ruth Wheen cup) and also many off-campus activities that take place in the local areas of Sydney such as Coogee and Randwick and also the inner city.
