Phil Thurston

Phil Thurston is a British music composer and sound editor born on 4 April 1978, and currently based in London.[1] He originally trained as a sound engineer and editor at Kingston College before starting work at London based music house Candle Music in 1996.[2] Thurston engineered and composed music for hundreds of commercials and short films ranging from Powergen to Irn-Bru to Mercedes-Benz. Thurston appeared as an actor in the drumming advert filmed in 2006 for Cobra Beer as well as composing the music.

Thurston has won many awards whist at Candle and has most recently won a Silver and Gold at the Roses Advertising Awards and a Bronze at the British Television Advertising Awards 2007.

Thurston has had many of his music tracks released, his most recent being Moroccan Sauta which appeared on the Purobeach Volume Uno compilation album through Seamless Records and Amanzimtoti which appeared on the Purobeach Volume Tres through Seamless Records. He has also had seven other tracks released on The Glen Volume One compilation album through Zerosonic as well as 5 tracks on Soholoft released through Clear records.

Thurston is a keen photographer and often flys around the world taking photos for his personal portfolio. Thurston is a Studio Manager/Composer and still works for Candle based in west London.
