Phil Price, founder of Philms production company, began his career directing music videos and commercials. With the arrival of partner and producer, Brandi-Ann Milbradt, Price and Philms quickly graduated to feature film production. In 2002, Philms produced their first full-length feature film comedy, Summer.
In the fall of 2003, Philms went into production on its second feature film, Hatley High, a quirky comedy about high school chess in a small town. It received solid reviews and screened at various film festivals, Hatley High, including the 2005 US Comedy Arts Festival where it won Best Director and Best Screenplay at the 2005 US Comedy Arts Festival in the film discovery program.
In 2005, they produced the critically acclaimed IFC original series, The Festival.
