Phil Hunter is a fictional police officer from popular police drama 'The Bill'. A philanderer with a long list of female relationships, he was originally referred to as 'a legend in his own mind'.
Phil was working in CID as a DS, which only lead to trouble. The constant bitterness at first between him and former DS, Samantha Nixon, was only the start of his troubles. A relationship with DS Debbie McAllister was another one of his affairs behind wife, Cindy's, back. Also, Phil has two children with different mothers, Madison and Alfie.
This DS has had many a troubles as a police officer. Been caught in tunnels with Sam Nixon, been shot in the leg, his trips to a sex addict clinic to please Sam Nixon, sleeping with Kate Maltby from the clinic, consequently getting her pregnant(Kate was Alfie's mother)...needless to say, Phil's had many interesting storylines.
One unforgettable romantic storyline was with his DS rival/best friend Samantha Nixon. Phil and Sam were constantly flirting for years before a case that lead them to Romania in 2006. Sam and Phil embarked on a silent relationship when they returned, after sleeping together in a backstreet B&B after getting shot at in a drive-by shooting. Sam broke off the relationship not much later, and this made them go straight back to friends.
Phil had more exciting storylines, also including his younger brother, PC Steve Hunter, and more so even afterwards. Phil finally left The Bill in Autumn 2007, and his actor, Scott Maslen, is currently starring in EastEnders as Jack Branning.
