Phil Dickens served as the head football coach of Indiana University from 1958 to 1964. During his tenure, he compiled a 20-41-2 record, in the Big Ten Conference. His best season came in 1958, where he went 5-3-1, including upsets over Michigan State, and the University of Michigan. He also served as the head coach of the University of Wyoming. His overall head coaching record remains at 86-67-11. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he became an All-American tailback.
