After a small role in Stomp The Yard and then a supporting role in This Christmas, producer Will Packer has decided that singer-actor Chris Brown is ready to take charge and has given him a lead part for his next role. Earlier this year, Variety reported that Brown has been cast in the Screen Gem film Phenom, and now they are are reporting that Henry Simmons and Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty) have been cast in the film as well with David Anspaugh set to direct the film.
Chris Brown will play a standout high school basketball player who goes pro after the media discovers he's the illegitimate son of the NBA's best player. Father and son are on a collision course as their teams meet on the road to the playoffs.
