FYI - I am keeping the April 1 main page FA slot open, although I've gone ahead and scheduled for the days following it (something I have been very reluctant to do in the past and will probably not be doing again). Congratulations on the George Washington article. Had I not been specifically looking for the Fool's Day joke on the main page, I would have been convinced it was talking about George Washington. And even though I was looking, I doubted for minutes whether the featured article box was talking about the other George Washington (afterall Benjamin Franklin was quite the inventor). I shortened the speed on ITN because of the "over" (it was attune to saying "The nearby town is just over 2.8 miles away"; it sounds odd). Now that you removed the "over", it would probably be best to use the exact speed – 574.8 km/h – since that is how fast it went (and it never actually reached 575 km/h). -- tariqabjotu 06:05, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Im BeŻet from Commons. There are many, many photos which can be treated as derived, since they present famous characters: [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]... But there still exists freedom of panorama, which allows such photographs. It's not a picture of the character itself - scooby is a balloon in the background, surrounded by buildings. This is not a copyvio. It was aprooved by an admin (the flickr tag). Please remove the speedy deletion request. - It's not the figure I question, it's the tone and meaning of your statements. If you seek to mock, be clear. I am certain the creator of the project was using Samoa and Palau as illustrations, not literally. I would be very surprised, outside the G8, whether most smaller countries even have individual articles about relations with their own neighbors, unless there has been some conflict historically. [edit] China Fair Use Tag Deletion
Canildo said "A license template for images that would be permitted under Chinese fair-use law but not US fair-use law. Unfortunately, since Wikipedia is based in the US, we need to follow US law".
I disagree with him on this point. Fair Use in this case, is a common treatment in both systems. Is Wikipedia based on US and English only? How about Canada and Great Britain and other English speaking nations? They all have different law systems. How about other language version of Wikipedia?
Please explain in practical, how an image created in China which qualifies fair use of Chinese fair-use law would violate US copyright law here, thanks.

I also disagree with his point. The law of China and US are not totally irrelevant. The purpose of both laws are both for justice, fair, protection of the public and punishment the breachers.
I agree there are lots of discrenpencies between two laws. But they not always on the opposite. For example, stealing and rubery are illigal in both systems, and the right for girls to go to school are guarantted in both. Should we say that the illegality of stealing and rubbery are exclusively US illegality, and right of girls go to the school is exclusively US right????Dongwenliang 02:52, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

The new cropped image looks amazing - totally different from the dark gloom of the case in the museum (alas no flash photography!). Thanks for uploading Image:Scooby ring.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Hi. I saw your recent edits on Sentimento (album). I understand where you're coming from regarding the notability; however an advanced google search (adding lang=English) on the album title with artist name comes up with 33 matches and some of those aren't even English, the results at best appear to be a list of Bongo's albums. There seems to be no reference available for the article; perhaps this can be the basis for deleting the article, however I don't know how to word it. Perhaps in this case there should just be an artist page and a discography page (if appopriate), instead of multiple unreferenced articles on virtually the same subject, none of which have any substantial reference under WP:A Can you advise? I don't think his albums deserve any less coverage just because he's primarily popular outside of English-speaking countries. This is an international encyclopedia, and we cover a fair number of topics that are seldom written about in English; that's part of our goal. Anyway, Bonga certainly seems more notable than a lot of vanity articles we get for just-above-garage-band groups. So, can I ask you to please take the prods off of the Bonga albums. If you feel that some of them have insufficient references to stand as independent articles, perhaps you could merge the track listings into Bonga discography. Two important points, according to WP:A are
- Wikipedia articles must be based on reliable sources
- Material added to articles must be directly and explicitly supported by the cited sources.
The material on all the articles tagged with prod actually fails both of these points, and although I support your idea of using the discography to collect the tracklists and album details, this would still require referencing. Cloudz679 19:05, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
