Phantasy Star Generation:2 (Japanese: ファンタシースター generation:2) is a role-playing game released in 2005 for the Playstation 2 and is an enhanced remake of Phantasy Star 2, originally released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1989. It is volume 17 of the Sega Ages 2500 series.
It was originally slated for United States and European release by Conspiracy Games as a part of the Phantasy Star Trilogy, a compilation of the remakes of Phantasy Star, Phantasy Star II, and Phantasy Star IV. The compilation's future is uncertain, however, since Sega reclaimed the publishing rights for the United States and Europe. Sega currently has no plans to publish this or any of the other Phantasy Star remakes outside of Japan, and with Sega of Japan having seemingly abandoned their plans for a Phantasy Star IV remake in favor of a compilation featuring the original iterations of Phantasy Star I-IV, it would seem likely that this game will remain exclusive to Japan.
[edit] Overview
Phantasy Star Generation:2, much like Phantasy Star Generation:1, follows the plotline of the original game while adding character development and strengthening the story in general.
