Phansidewa is located at 26.58 N, 66.36 E.[1]

In the 2001 census, Phansidewa community development bloc had a population of 171,508, out of which 87,945 were males and 83,563 were females.[2]

In the 2006 elections to the state assembly, Chhotan Kisku of CPI(M) won the Phansidewa seat, reserved for scheduled tribes, defeating Mamla Kujur of INC. Prokash Minj of CPI(M) defeated Mamla Kujur of INC in 2001, Chabilal Minj of INC in 1996 and Iswar Chandra Tirkey of INC in 1991 and 1987. Patras Minz of CPI(M) defeated Iswar Chandra Tirkey of INC in 1982 and Chako Taresa Soreng of JNP in 1977.[3]
Phansidewa is part of Darjeeling (Lok Sabha constituency).[4]
