Description

Cropped photographic postcard of Mathilde Felixovna Kschessinskaya (1872-1971), Prima ballerina assoluta of the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatres. She is costumed as the Princess Aspicia in the Pas de flèche of the Grand pas des chasseuressess for Marius Petipa's ballet The Pharaoh's Daughter, 1898.

The photograph was taken by an unknown photographer at the photography studio of the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre. I (MrLopez2681) scanned the photo from the book The Great Russian Dancers by Gennady Smakov. Knapf. 1984.

Circa October 1898 (the ballet The Pharaoh's Daughter was presented in a revival by Marius Petipa on October 21 [O.S. November 2] 1898 at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre, mounted especially for Kschessinskaya.)
