Glad I could help. =) May God bless Mother Spain; we also suffer your mourning. You may want to visit my User Page again. ;-) --Maio 18:08, Mar 13, 2004 (UTC)
Didn't do anything much, but thanks. Evercat 18:27, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Glad I could do a little bit. As a former railwayman, I have a particular horror of this sort of attack. Arwel 18:59, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Glad to have been able to help, and bitterly regretting that we had to have this article in the first place. -- ChrisO 23:18, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Dear pfortuny. It took me 3 days to really grasp what happened in Madrid. It was not only for being a terrible action, but also for happen in your country, right next to mine. Maybe you dont know, but in Portugal, people are grieving this just like it happened to us. We had our historical disagreements but rest assured that my country mourns too. Like the Marquis of Pombal said after the 1755 earthquake in Lisboa: Now its time to bury the dead and take care of the grief of the living. Peace be with you and your country. Muriel 15:04, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Montrealais
[edit] Translation?
Pfortuny, could you provide a translation for the text on Image:11-M.png below the image in the article? From my vauge recollections of Spanish, I think it says "We will not forget you," but if you could confirm, I'd appreciate it... -- Seth Ilys 19:30, 13 Mar 2004 (UTC)
I just wanted to tell you I was sorry. You are spanish or from spanish origin right ?
I could not today, because I was in a meeting with a customer, but my husband at the restaurant and kids at school made the 3 mn of silence. The kids were explained what happened in school, and we explained them more this evening; This is not the first time we have to explain to them the word terrorism unfortunately. My thoughts are to you and the rest of the spanish people here; FirmLittleFluffyThing
Yes, I am Spanish living in Spain, but not in Madrid. Thank you very much for your support. You might also refer to User:Miguel, who is from Spain as well. Pfortuny 20:52, 15 Mar 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Terrorism
Apology accepted. My thoughts and sympathies, as ever, are with you and the people of Spain. -- Seth Ilys 14:45, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry I did not intend to Vandalise
I thank you for your concern of wikipedia but i did not mean to vandalise Donard Park i mearly meant to highlight the problem in the area and the dangers of it to tourists at night. I repeatedly tryed to enter it in because i think it is a valid problem people should wake up to not lock away and try to forget about. 217.33.82.4 13:21, 18 Mar 2004 (UTC)
DON'T BE SORRY...er don't be sorry ;) Thanks for that better definition than mine - I have a tendency to be impenetrably obscure at times. Thanks for your help :) Dysprosia 10:51, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit] mailing list
Thank you for informing me, but I cannot seem to find it. Could you give me a link? Thanks. Perl 11:23, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I'm sorry. The ban was appropriate, but my language was not. 172 21:00, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Neat tip: If a user is recreating content at a certain link, it may help not to give the link directly. It'll give them a chance to easily recreate it again. Just a little point in strategy, don't know if it works or not ;) Dysprosia 10:29, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Good point. Thanks. Pfortuny 10:31, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
[edit] The "racism" thing
Calling someone a racist is a common dishonest trick of argument. It is difficult to be called a racist and also to keep quiet. I will not do so. Paul Beardsell 11:52, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC) Oops: Just in case: I know you are not calling me a racist! Paul Beardsell 11:54, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I know you wrote the same to both parties. But there is the smoke without fire thing: I have been called a racist. But you calling for the discussion to be quietened down is of no assistance to me. You might not have an opinion as to whether tkorrovi's accusation has any merit. But if you had read the background material you would know the accusation was groundless and you would NOT be writing the same to both parties. As you have writtten the same to both the merit of the accusation must be an open question in your mind. In the future, when you see my name, you might remember that I was accused of being a racist. That is something I do NOT want you to remember. Tkorrovi deserves to be censured (i) for his generally non-constructive behaviour here on Wikipedia and (ii) for accusing me of being a racist in an open forum. His diversionary tactic (ii) draws attention away from (i) and I suffer as a result. Paul Beardsell 12:23, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
[edit] co-operations on the wikipedia
It's fun to see how someone else (i.e. you) express at Wikipedia:Quickpolls#Response exactly what I would have written if I wrote again on that topic. It highlights how one just doesn't have to do everything oneself. If one is right, someone else might do it as well. :-)

[edit] Advertising the quickpoll review
Thanks for your suggestion, but I don't plan to use it. First of all, I think some people probably dislike constantly having extra stuff added to Recent changes that doesn't fit within the basic format. Also, although you call it a "quickpolls quickpoll", this poll does not have the urgency of an actual quickpoll. We can take more time to discuss whether quickpolls are good or bad, which will give people more time to see the places where this review is advertised. Nevertheless, I appreciate your input both on the advertising idea and about quickpolls themselves. --Michael Snow 18:34, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Please know...
That you'll be missed, that your contributions and perspective are very valuable here, and that the quote you're reacting to does not represent the opinions of the vast majority of users here, me included. I hope you'll recognize that this situation may have brought out the worst in a couple of people, but that there are plenty of users here who respect the dignity of humans everywhere. Hoping to see you back soon, Jwrosenzweig 19:49, 14 May 2004 (UTC)
- What can I say but
- All shall be well and
- All shall be well and
- All manner of thing shall be well.
- If I can be of any help to you, please do let me know. All my best to you, Jwrosenzweig 15:45, 17 May 2004 (UTC)
- Eliot is one of the greats -- I'm afraid my reaction to works like Prufrock is mixed, but the Four Quartets are brilliant. My favorite poet (and one which I hope you are familiar with) is Gerard Manley Hopkins, but Eliot, W. H. Auden, and Robert Frost would make up the "tied for second place" group. :-) Thanks for the compliment (I like to think myself literate :-), by the way. I hope your thinking about Wikipedia is leading to good things for you: Jwrosenzweig 17:01, 17 May 2004 (UTC)
Qué pasa, Pedro? Me puedes contestar en mi página. — Miguel 06:32, 2004 May 28 (UTC)
With respect to
- Maybe we are adding too much information to the Wikipedia and too little knowledge. (Not to speak about wisdom...)
all I have to say is that wisdom is not something you can put in writing and knowledge, being elaborated information, is too often subject to POV disputes. When that happens (and it tends to happen with all topics having a human dimension to them) the best one can strive for is accurate and complete exposition of relevant facts (relevance being another source of POV disputes) and hoping that the reader will elaborate their own knowledge from the information. Miguel 19:06, 31 May 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Breaking links by using inappropriate capitals an inappropriate plurals
Hello. Not only is it incorrect to capitalized the "A" and "G" in "analytic geometry" in the middle of a sentence, but the capitalization of the "G" actually caused the link not to work. Similarly, there's no need for a capital "D" in a link to differential geometry; the first letter of a link is not case-sensitive. Similarly "Sheaf Theory" ---> "sheaf theory". The reason your link to "test functions" did not work was that you linked to the plural; the article does exist. Here's the correct form: test functions, with the "s" OUTSIDE of the brackets. Michael Hardy 20:49, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Mmmhh I do not recall where that happened, although I remember having problems with the links. Apologies for the mess. Pfortuny 07:37, 4 Jun 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
For the laughter I got reading your support vote at RFA. :-) I will strive to continue good bureaucracy as much as possible. I am very glad to see you still here, and am hoping to hear more of your ideas about this site soon -- has your thinking produced any bits of wisdom you can share? I expect so. Thank you also for your notes to me on my talk page when I was despairing about this place -- you remind me of what is best about my involvement here, and I appreciate it. Have a wonderful weekend, Jwrosenzweig 20:45, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry to see the note that you've left. I should have talked with you more while you were here -- perhaps I will have the chance again someday, and when I get it, please remind me to take advantage of the opportunity. May you find peace in your endeavors, and if our paths do not cross again here, I trust they will in another place. All my best, Jwrosenzweig 20:36, 20 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- It's fantastic to see that you're back to tend vandalism. :-) I hope to see more of you around here more often -- we need the kind of wisdom and careful thought you provide. Best wishes, Jwrosenzweig 20:48, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Source images
Thanks for your reply about the storage of source images. I doubt that it would space when they are happy to have up to 4 MB graphic files. It may be a security issue or no one has considered it a good idea. The Melbourne map I drew has an AI file of 509 KB and a png image of 85 KB. Neither of those are huge in comparison with photographs which are encouraged to be as high detail as possible. Anyway, if you are talking to any of the powers that be, think about putting it up as a good idea. It would mean that maps, diagrams, crests, and flags could then be modified as required by anyone with the right software. For instance the black ribbon on the Spanish flag! --CloudSurfer 22:19, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. EPS seems to be fine in Adobe. I like Corel but it is a bit quirky and I am moving more towards Adobe as time goes by. Yes I am enjoying my time here. It's fun. Thanks for the help. --CloudSurfer 08:16, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:11-M.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:11-M.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 03:23, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
