PFD Otter
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PFD Otter is a spokesman and advocate for water safety, who spearheads the "Kids Don't Float" program created in Homer, Alaska. The program loans Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) to children and teenagers to combat the increasing number of drowning deaths. Today there are over 400 "Kids Don't Float" loaner stations in Alaska.
PFD Otter, the official mascot for the "Kids Don't Float" program, appears in the semi-annual newsletter and on signs at the PFD loaner stations. His most important goal is to ensure the safety of children and to prevent them from drowning. As PFD Otter says, "Kids Don't Float! Kids otter always wear a lifejacket while playing in or near the water."
