[edit] Capture of HMS Guerriere

Hi Peter! I 1st wanted to thank you for helping me on this article! You made a change and I was wondering where you got the information on it from? I'd like to include this on the reference listing if that would be ok?

Following the battle, Captain Dacres faced a court martial, like all captains in the Royal Navy who lost their ship. He was acquitted of charges, the verdict for the defeat being placed upon the Guerriere's decrepit masts. The ship's log prior to the battle indicated that Dacres had deliberately traveled slowly to avoid taxing the masts, indicating that he was worried about their condition. Indeed, the Royal Navy had realized the ship was reaching the end of its lifespan, and in a January 1812 review had estimated the ship only had about six months left.
