[edit] Re: Vandalism of Template:Castes and Tribes of the Punjab

Hey, I'm not actually an admin so I can't block that IP (and IP blocks are rarely permanent anyway). If the Anon starts up again the best thing to do is post to WP:AIV (follow the instructions there). Hope that helps.--Nilfanion (talk) 22:26, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

I understand that you are trying to protect Wikipedia but that is not acceptable. I find it especially strange when the section that you seem to be concerned about was added by other editors and contains three references. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 19:22, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry hit save on the wrong page. I would suggest that if you have a problem with a paragraph like that the best thing is to take it up, in a civil manner, on the talk page of the article in question instead of yelling at people for no apparent reason. [edit] Re: Jat

Please do something about the abuse John Hill is recieving in the discussion about this article. Also one must question the POV on the article generally. Note also how many times tags have been removed without discussion..--Sikh-history 10:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Itihaaskar

Hi, this seems to be a content dispute. I can't ban any user without any discussion, because this is not a clear case of vandalism. Rather, there seems to be an edit war going on between two groups of editors with different opinions. The best way is to seek further dispute resolution. utcursch | talk 04:33, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, removal of disputed content is not classified as vandalism. In case of a content dispute, I can block editors for 3RR violation, but not for claiming that some of the content in the article is wrong. The best way to solve content disputes is formal dispute resolution process. Working on the Jat article is on my todo list, but I'm a little busy with other things in life right now. utcursch | talk 06:07, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Itihaaskar is a sock puppet

User Itihhaskar who has made only few "contributions" to the Wikipedia and that is only Jat people page. He is regularly deleting content from this page. He has been warned also for his this activity. If his interest is to contribute to Wikipedia he wold have done edits to other pages also. He has created this false identity to vandalize the Jat people page.

I, therefore, request the Administrators to investigate identity of "Itihaaskar" and to determine if he is really a "sock puppet" for someone else. --burdak 04:42, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ranjit Singh's Mother

I notice you removed some text which said Ranjit Singh murdered his mother when he was 17 years of age. The anonymous contributor included a reference which appeared to be respectable. I do not have a position on this, but we must treat contributors fairly. Are you disagreeing with that contributor's text, and, if so, do you have a verifiable source for a different statement?Fconaway 04:29, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ranjit Singh

Hi,

Your deletion of my last edit is unfair by any standards and a misuse of your credentials on this website.

It seems you found no issues with dubious subjective comments from others, like Ranjit Singh being 'one of the 3 Lions of India'. My addition on the other hand was accompanied by multiple references and links that are known and respected. Yet it was found unacceptable. Is it because it goes against the image of Ranjit Singh that the dominant Indian and Sikh viewpoint likes to convey?

If in your eyes, his causing the killing of his mother is 'too trivia' to deserve a mention in this biographical article, I disagree with that.

If "consensus" is the declared policy for Wikipedia articles, I hope that includes the perspective of those whose families have been victims of this enlightened ruler.

If it does not, I will assume this is a Maha Raja Ranjit Singh Fan Club Forum instead of an encyclopedia article.

With my best wishes, MM Kayani

[edit] Vandalism

I'm not sure what this "warning" is about. Please Assume Good Faith when dealing with experienced editors, and try actually talking to me to find out what's going on before throwing around first warnings disguised as "last warnings". - BillCJ (talk) 06:39, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
