RFA

Good luck on your RfA -- ₮inucherian (Talk) - 06:14, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Good to see that you are receiving very strong support ! Congrats.Best of luck ! -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 02:45, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Once again I come to you...

Hello there. Congrats on the admin nomination, looks like you're for it! If you want, I can support your position if you would like. But that's not the main reason. Remember I asked you for advise on the McGill University article? Well now, I've actually done stuff, though AccuratEdit (talk) did a hell lot more than me. When you have the time, could you do me a favor and post some suggestions in the second peer review I set up? The first didn't draw out as many as I'd like. Please, take your time, --Sunsetsunrise (talk) 21:24, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for looking at the problem at lord for me! It's like nothing I have ever experienced before! --Cameron (t|p|c) 12:35, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I already looked at the diffs! I was curious as to how you fixed it! Good luck on your Rfa! --Cameron (t|p|c) 12:45, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Boehm & Princess Louise

I just replaced the photo of Boehm and Princess Louise which you earlier removed. Although you are certainly correct, that it is not necessary to the article, I would argue than it is of considerable interest and well worth keeping. I'm the one who uploaded that photo, and have a good deal of information on its provenance. The identification of the two persons is rather firm. I'll be happy to go into the details, if you're interested. Tim Ross (talk) 21:27, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Editor Review

Thanks for the unexpected review, although the mention about the bot hurt a lot. I never 'admitted' that I was running a bot, because I wasn't. Please read the ER for a longer response. Gary King (talk) 06:09, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem, but again, it was really painful when I was reading your review (which was very glowing) and then came upon that — as the last item, no less. If it makes anyone feel better, I would be happy to deliver the code I used for that incident, but personally, I wish I could put that behind me. If you check my history on Wikipedia, I did nothing productive until after that event; I would consider the promotion of my first Featured list to be the real beginning of my Wikipedia career. Gary King (talk) 06:16, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't think that incident had too many opposes on the last RFA, but I will mention something along the lines that I was really interested in contributing to Wikipedia after that first FLC; the biggest issue was brought up by Pedro, who mentioned that I made submissions too quickly to AIV, and I completely agree. I'd like to also mention that everyone at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of autonomous areas by country were really friendly to me at my first FLC and I have ended up being familiar with those users — you were the first person to ever criticize my work on Wikipedia! (I just realized that I had a bunch of unsuccessful nominations before then... but still. It was a very fun FLC!) Before that FLC, if you check my contributions, the vast majority of them were adding categories to articles because I didn't know what other way I could help contribute to Wikipedia and I was completely oblivious to the fact that there was a lot of things going on that were deeper than the very top layer. Gary King (talk) 06:33, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
No, no! I didn't mean to make you feel bad from my last comment; I was just saying that I still seem to keep in contact with a lot of people from my first FLC, especially even after branching off to FAC and GA and all that :) Gary King (talk) 06:42, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for explaining the image upload process in detail. It is very much help for me. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 08:36, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Michael Bellomo

The paragraphs " He is the co-author of two Amazon bestsellers involving technology and science: eBay Your Business and Microbe: Are We Ready For The Next Plague?, a chilling work on how vulnerable we are to new, exotic diseases and acts of biological terrorism. The book is now a required text for upper division biology courses at California State University, Sacramento and San Francisco City College." on the amazon page

"He is the co-author of the Amazon bestseller 'Microbe: Are We Ready For The Next Plague?', a chilling work on how vulnerable we are to new, exotic diseases and acts of biological terrorism. The book is now a required text for the upper division course, Emerging Infectious Diseases at California State University, Sacramento." on the page.

" Michael has written 18 books in various non-fiction fields, including technology, business operations, and 'mass market' science. Michael's books have been published internationally in Italian, Portuguese, French, Dutch, Korean, German, Russian, and Chinese." on amazon

"Michael Bellomo is a prolific science and technology writer, with 17 books to his name (and 1 ghost-written work). He is published in non-fiction fields, including technology, test prep, business operations, and ‘mass market’ science. Bellomo’s books have been published internationally in Italian, Portuguese, French, Dutch, Korean, German, Russian, and Chinese." on the page

Thats ok. I was worried people who read the copyvio tag wouldnt be able to find it; i couldnt initially, but when someone uses the word "chilling" in an article its either a copyvio or they're personally involved. Ironholds (talk) 09:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Kazue Takahashi

Speaking of which, Peter, I also tagged it for need of extra references, and that an expert needs to check it out. Besides, it has been under construction ever since I created it, yet, it might obviously be notable or near notable enough.Kitty53 (talk) 04:23, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

re: WP:AIV

Fair enough, it has been a while since the last final warning, but considering they have so many of them, I couldn't see the point of warning them again, as clearly the others weren't followed up later. i'll just warn them then John Hayestalk 13:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Peter

Your absolutely a more experienced wikipedian than I, so could I ask you something? I've been looking for a nice cursive-like font for my signature, do you know of one? Cheers! Wiki Zorro 20:52, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Protection of Ringmail

Hello, you recently investigated and declined my request for page protection of the article ringmail. Thanks for looking into it but I had a question about your stated reasoning behind that decision: why do you regard a request for protection in response to several years of past anonymous edits as a request for pre-emptive protection? I believe that edits attempting to force a particular POV qualify as vandalism and if so this vandalism by anonymous IPs (and some by registered users too) has been occurring for quite some time, since long before I ever started working on that page.

I mentioned the talk page discussion of modern English vs. Victorian English vs. French scholarship - but that's not a discussion I was involved in, those were discussions that occurred years ago.

If you still think this isn't a case that warrants semi-protection I'm fine with that, I just wanted to make sure you had noticed that this has been going on for years and that I'm just the messenger here. --❨Ṩtruthious ℬandersnatch❩ 22:53, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, thank you for clearing that up. I guess I did have a misunderstanding - I'd gotten the impression over the years that full protection and semi-protection were partly available for preventing vandalism and anonymous vandalism respectively, I did not realize that they are primarily for dealing with edit wars. Thanks again for taking a look at that article. --❨Ṩtruthious ℬandersnatch❩ 00:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for thanking me for supporting you; it's nice to see that you have also taken the time to personalize every message with a username, which is a nice touch.
