S/T

Hmm, yes, I suppose I could have just turned the S/T page into a redirect. Evan Reyes (talk) 05:52, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

It's not, that was just a placeholder for the real title, I suppose. S/T is meant to stand for "self-titled," but I think the convention is just to give the name of the band with the (album) tag after it. Evan Reyes (talk) 05:55, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
That's fine. It's probably better off not even existing—someone could make a similarly-titled article at some point in the future and it would just cause confusion when it linked to This Will Destroy You. Evan Reyes (talk) 05:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Joining the Royalty Project

Peter, there was no mention of how to join the project and since you have rollback rights I thought I'd ask you. I'm pretty well versed on the subject of Royalty and would love to assist in the project. How do I go about joining? Naut2b (talk) 23:11, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a note to let you know that per WP:DPR#NAC, you should not really early close AFDs as a non-admin. I'm not going to reopen this but just as a note for the future. Stifle (talk) 19:04, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Request for third-party interpretation

Peter, thanks for your help with the Genetics of Ancient World page...let me know if I can ever be of any help to you on an edit situation. Anyway, I'm still in a deadlock about Javan. Please, if you have time, read Javan and comment on the following on the user page for Javan found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Javan about this question:

1. After reading Javan does Javan as used in the Bible refer to the ancient Greeks, and not just some mythical or biblical character?

Peter, sorry about the administrator thing, I didn't know that I had put it on there. I didn't even know it was there. So I am sorry.

Thanks

For expanding Siqing Lu. I needed to head to sleep after I found those references, so I didn't get a chance to insert them into the article. (I just wanted to put them out there to stop the article from getting axed because a nom couldn't be bother to do a google search before AfD'ing). Best, --Bfigura (talk) 17:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Tex Bronson

I am Kyle Vickers, president of the Atlanta-based company Adrenaline Pulse Entertainment. I just recently added the post of Tex Bronson who is the main character of our new film in production called Mummies of the Third Reich. The character of Tex Bronson is played by famous american drummer, Kerry Denton, who has been in such mainstream bands as Mother's Finest. Also, minor characters in the film are played by such members of Skid Row and those of Green Jelly. The script itself and the film in production has become a phenomenon in Atlanta with not only the independent film community but with various professional visual effects artists and set designers that have worked on numerous Hollywood films. The film is also in a contract to be shown on ComCast. The fact that this film is not notable is ridiculus considering that this is an internet encyclopedia noting real topics across the world. This is a noteworthy topic that obviously is worth something considering it's budget over $100,000 and that it will be exclusively premiered at the 3rd annual Atlanta Horror-Fest. Reconsider your opinion about it being un-notable, and do some research on the information provided in the topic. --Adrenaline-pulse (talk) 10:52, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Dorothy Ruth

I wrote the following at the AfD for Dorothy Ruth: Worldcat says the book is in at least 200 libraries in the United States. That probably makes it notable. See Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Creative_professionals, which includes the criterion "... had works in many significant libraries." --Eastmain (talk) 01:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your "welcome"

Thank you very much PeterSymonds – for your welcome and your answer on Wikipedia:Reference desk/Humanities. It was very difficult for me to find a good answer, and your answer... help me, very really. I can't really work on WP in English because my English is very bad but I work in WK French with the same "name". Maby can we "meet" on the web... Grandsons

My apologies - I misread it as referring to EIIR. BTW, the text might have been intended to say that most of Ireland left the United Kingdom in 1922, but perhaps not since the article is about the monarchy and full secession was in 1949. --Red King (talk) 19:38, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Elizabeth Wriothesley, Countess of Southampton‎

After noticing your recent work on this article I saw where someone has added an unsourced quote to the Marriage and children section. Personally I don't think the quote is needed there, but what do you think? If it remains it needs to be sourced. The effort to search for the quote may not be worth it, however.

Also I have been guilty of using the maiden name, not only with this article but others as well. It seems to be the preferred use at many sites as well as printed works. It does not look like everyone is on the "same page", so to speak, with this concern. Recently I posted an example of the issue at Talk:Elizabeth Campbell, 1st Baroness Hamilton of Hameldon‎. Thanks Daytrivia (talk) 18:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Outstanding Peter. Very efficient, effective and interesting expansion. Thanks a million.
On the other issue I just don't know. I've talked with the founder and editor of a major site who uses the maiden or family name as it seems to "keeps things straight" but is sure to parallel index the legal married name. I do not think the lead title of the article, in this case, should be simply be Elizabeth Vernon indeed I have no objection to Elizabeth Wriothesley, Countess of Southampton especially with the subtitle Elizabeth Wriothesley, (née Vernon) Countess of Southampton as it clearly states her new legal name but also clarifies for posterity who she was, at the beginning of the article. Daytrivia (talk) 20:07, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

To avoid a potential quandary in Wikipedia you are quite correct that consistency is necessary and I will make appropriate changes with some of my starts. At the same time it would probably be prudent to some how (I am not Wiki savey) initiate a "naming convention" dealing with this issue. There may be some useful information out there. Possibly even to avoid confusing research as I have noticed when researching Elizabeth Seymour, Duchess of Somerset where her daughter married a Percy. Research/Wiki are sometimes at odds. Daytrivia (talk) 21:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the discussion today it has been interesting and quite helpful. I certainly approve of you moving the articles, to what appears to be the acceptable wiki standard. Please feel free to move at will. Thanks also for starting the discussion. Daytrivia (talk) 23:03, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Film stubs

Hi there. Howz it goin? Lord knows Hong Kong , Italian and French film is missing in gigantic loads from wiki in relation to American film coverage. Don't worry they'll gradually be expanded like The Boxer From Shantung. Best way is to stub them first I think so clear red links and gives us something to work with. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi yes I'm sure you noticed! But as you probably know I create articles on diverse subjects and while films aren't what I would think of as traditional encyclopedia articles I think they will grow into useful additions eventually. But getting them started in bulk is probably the best way to ge tthe ball rolling so to speak and try to address bias on here. Today I have some Romanian poets and Burkina communes to add! Peer review request for Facebook

Hi, if you have time could you please take a look at Facebook and post any suggestions you may have at Wikipedia:Peer review/Facebook/archive3? I'd like to get it to WP:FAC soon but first I'd like a copyedit from people who are not involved with the article, and if you have any content suggestions such as what to keep or remove, I would also appreciate that. Dutch Acadie

Thank you for removing the tag. (Red4tribe (talk) 22:09, 1 May 2008 (UTC))

re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Acadie

Hello There,

While I agree with the be bold policy of wikipedia, this material has been heavily disputed over several wikipedia pages. The person in question constantly ignores every other person in an agrument and insists s/he is right. With that, after not conceding the agrument with Dutch Acadie, (which by the way would not be its proper name if it was an actually place, which I assure you it wasn't formally) this person then creates an article with information puts directly almost word for word out of another one, except for the part in the other article which states that all dutch claims to Acadia were paper claims and were abandoned before any actual conquest.

So now i am going to ask what exactly should the reason for deletion should have been and if you can help remove this gibberish or not?-Kirkoconnell (talk) 22:11, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I am going to add that it is the correct name, the book written on it (http://books.google.com/books?id=w4IBAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA127&lpg=PA127&dq=dutch+conquest+acadie&source=web&ots=zjDvps_VJK&sig=DXCnTg6j4iO8S9nlrxjtckWXIOw&hl=en) calls it Acadie. Not Acadia. The Dutch did occupy two French forts, as the article and reference states, not the entire colony. Just FYI the one above me is twisting the story about me. (Red4tribe (talk) 22:16, 1 May 2008 (UTC))

Oh yes, the famous googlebook link whereby we cannot actually read the book, produced from the university of michigan, the up most authority on Acadia. Well no worries. I'm actually done of this but this page is clearly fucking bullshit to me. Seriously. A dutch guy comes in can invent history on wikipedia, to the benefit of the Dutch (what a surprise), create shit that can and has, on several discussion pages, been discredited and you work to empower him over me, who has asked him repeatedly to keep the information honest. Well I'm cool with that. In four years when the article gets deleted because its fucking nonsense, I'm sure no one will remember. Jesus.-Kirkoconnell (talk) 22:22, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Watch your tongue. Enough lies have come out. (Red4tribe (talk) 23:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC))

Public library, you say?

Why, how convenient, I seem to be in one at this exact moment! *gets to work* Ziggy Sawdust 18:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Dutch Acadie 2

I have ahd to rename the Page to Dutch Conquest of Acadie, and it has been tagged for deletion again, could you possibly remove it for me? No one really bothers to listen to what I say. Now they are claiming there is original research, which is of course, an absolute lie. (Red4tribe (talk) 03:06, 3 May 2008 (UTC))

Nice attempt. -Kirkoconnell (talk) 03:56, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. (Red4tribe (talk) 00:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC))

Request for Removal

Hello, my name is Harrison Johnson and I along with Kyle Vickers are the director's for K2 Productions. You have a topic on here listed as TEX BRONSON, which continually comes up when a search is done through most search engines. I have already received several e-mails from individuals that had done a search for our new film and kept seeing your site on the first page of the results. I would like for you to remove this entry and the Tex Bronson entry so that it will no longer appear on search engine results for our film and lead actor. Thank you. You can contact me at DerpGuy@hotmail.com—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.178.110.48 (talkcontribs) 03:10, May 5, 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean Wikipedia as a whole? If so, the article has already been deleted. If you mean my talk page: 1) I prefer to keep everything here, as it serves as a record; 2) Looking at the search, my page doesn't appear in the Google search results, so keeping it isn't an issue. Good luck with your film! PeterSymonds | talk 03:40, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Admin Coaching

Hey there Peter, I was just reviewing your edits and at first glance, I have to ask what you expect or want from admin coaching? At first glance, it looks as if you might be a prime candidate just to go ahead and run for adminship! Coaching is IMHO for people who are a little weaker candidates and need help getting experience else where and being seen as an admin. You appear to be well respected, active in several areas, involved with XfD's... So am I missing something? Why do you need coaching? I would be more than happy to review your edits in more detail and possibly nominate you now. (You can see my previous nominations at my talk page.)Balloonman (talk) 22:40, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Wholly positive previous interaction with Peter. A good candidate. Just my 2p. Pedro :  Chat  22:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps a co-nom pedro? If he's interested?Balloonman (talk) 23:07, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Sounds like the way forward .... ! Pedro :  Chat  23:10, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
We're deciding his fate without his involvement... So let's wait to see why he feels that he needs admin coaching. If he thinks it is something he has to have to pass an RfA, I say we dispel that notion ;-) I think he's ready, so what say you Peter?Balloonman (talk) 23:13, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. I honestly feel you would be a greater asset with admin rights Peter, but of course it is up to you. If you wish, Balloonman will nominate and I will co-nom. If you are unsure or wish to wait a while no problems, of course. I will be busy tomorrow during the day (I believe you are the same time zone as myself - bank holiday!) but we can move this along at your pace. Pedro :  Chat  23:19, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

If you're up for it, I'd be happy to nom too...definitely supporting! dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 03:12, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you! PeterSymonds | talk 03:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Water/Pedro, go ahead and add your co-noms. Peter, 3 co-noms is about as many as you want, after that it starts to look like your trying to overcome a problem. You might be interested in reading, my essay on how to pass an RfA. Basically what it says is to treat the questions as if you were interviewing for the job. Take them seriously and answer them completely. If you don't know the answer, research it.Balloonman (talk) 04:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

One other thing, after Pedro/Water add their co-noms, you will need to transclude the RfA to the RfA page. When you do so, do so at a time that you will be able to keep an eye on the RfA for 2-4 hours. Those first few hours are crucial to some RfA's. You might get asked some questions and you might have some early opposes that need to be addressed. When addressing an oppose, don't get into a long debate (this includes nominators.)Balloonman (talk) 05:22, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Co-nom added. Pedro :  Chat  10:59, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I just have to say, you thought there was a chance your RfA would be a snowball fail??? ;-)Balloonman (talk) 19:12, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

It's the high quality of the nominations that saved it .... :) Pedro :  Chat  19:16, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Afd of Fernando Martinez (disc jockey)

I notice you commented on this. It seems theres actually several similar articles on other characters, which I've added to the afd. Some of these have already had attempts at tidying up, but its been done in a slightly inconsistent way. I've added what I found to the afd. I wondered if you wanted to comment further give the afd has expanded since your original comment. --BrucePodger (Lets have a beer) 14:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not so sure, I think its better left as one afd in the hope of getting a consistent treatment between them all. I know redirects normally have a slightly different deletion process, but there are times when the rules don't quite fit.

Your RfA

Good luck... I think you should do fine... just remember to pay attention to it today. If anybody asks you a question, treat it seriously. Give complete answers. If the question is vague, explore the issue in more detail.Balloonman (talk) 14:46, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I wish you luck in your RfA! I hope it succeeds for you! Cheers, Razorflame 14:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
