Peter George Lay was born in Edgware, Middlesex, UK in 1937. He served in the Royal Air Force in East Africa in 1956 to 1958. He founded the Harlesden United Football club, and subsequently went to the Kensal Wanderers Football club where he shared player and club official duties with Edward Lee. Kensal Wanderers played in the Harrow Youth league for several seasons. In 1960 Peter founded the Harrow and Chorley Wood Motor Scooter club with Chris. Rawlings. The club changed its name to the Harrow Scooter club and had several succsses in local and natioal scooter events. Peter joined forces with Edward Hunt and took over the Chaulden Forest youth soccer teams in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. Peter and Ed were amongst the first youth teams in the UK to obtain sponsorship from business and were the first club in the county to display the name of their sponsor on their shirts - Ogglesbys (a local Renault dealership) Peter worked for the Evening Post Echo in Hemel Hempstead where he lived, and left the UK in 1966
