[edit] history

would be nice to mention that petropolis was largely an immigrant place, being build and inhabited by germans and italians as the primary groups. Architecture such as the Quitandinha Palace display the german style for instance.

perhaps I could do it myself, but I am still a wiki virgin so it frightens me...LOL

To anonymous 200.255.45.250: The original page had many grammatical errors, confusing passages, and irrelevant detail. I spent a couple of hours fixing those problems, and also reorganizing the information in a more logical order, trying to follow the style of most Wikipedia city pages. Sorry for not explaining my fixes, but I thought that the improvements (at least some of them) were obvious enough. If you disagree with some of my fixes, of find errors in what I wrote, please try to contribute positively instead of simply reverting the whole page to the previous bad version. Thanks. I don't have much practise with Wikipedia edition. However, it would be nice to cite Sir Peter Brian Medawar. He was born in Petrópolis, son of an Englishwoman. He was awarded with the Nobel Prize of medicine in 1960. Some references are http://www.answers.com/topic/peter-medawar?cat=health and http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/medicine/laureates/1960/medawar-bio.html Besides that, take a look on the page in portuguese: it would be nice to include that map.

(Sorry for the typo... I don't have much "practice" instead of "practise", lol)

The two links you provided above say Sir Peter Medawar was born in Rio de Janeiro, without specifying if this is the state or the city. Petrópolis is not mentioned there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.232.61.177 (talk) 21:38, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

In the first link we have: "Peter Medawar was born on Feb. 28, 1915, in Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil of a British mother and Lebanese father." It is in the second block of text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.134.10.24 (talk) 21:53, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Petropolis Imperial Museum.jpg

Image:Petropolis Imperial Museum.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
