Talk:Peter Lougheed
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These two excerpts are cribbed from the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, 1st ed. (1998) and 2nd ed. (2004):
"After two years playing with the Edmonton Eskimos and a brief period practising law, he was elected leader of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party in 1965. The party, which had not been a political force for over 40 years, became the opposition in 1967 and won 49 of 75 seats in 1971" "As Premier, he encouraged development of oil and gas in the province while increasing royalties paid to the province, and started the Alberta Heritage Fund."
Would someone like to verify this? The C.O.D. is not on-line. Reported here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#August_29. But I admit that the Wiki technicalities for copyright violations are beyond me. —MarkB 12:41, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] His leadership == good hockey teams?
Why is it relevant that the Flames and Oilers were great during his terms in office? I can understand giving context for the times but this doesn't seem to be terribly important, unless it somehow relates to some kind of hockey program he put in place. MatttK (talk) 06:04, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't relate at all, so I deleted it. --62.167.60.176 (talk) 23:20, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
