[edit] Was he ever elected?
I question this line: "in 1977, he was elected Deputy Mayor of Minneapolis in the administration of Mayor Albert J. Hofstede,".
- As far as I know, the position of Deputy Mayor is not an elected position, but a staff appointment by the Mayor. It certainly has been for at least the last 20 years.
- All the references I could find (including his own website) merely say that he "served as" or "was" deputy mayor. This site is the only one that says he was elected to that office.
Is there any cite for the claim that he was elected? T-bonham (talk) 13:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Some people are just voting for the party that they think is the best... But what they should truly be doing is looking into what the candidates believe in, and if they aren't looking into what the runners are intersted in, they probably shouldn't even vote at all.
So over all: Vote for the person not the party!

Updated. Added a section on the possibility that Hutchinson changed the result of the election--the likelihood that he did seems to be the most relevant historical effect of his campaign. Was careful about POV...I know there are some editors who might feel that even acknowledging the possibility that he changed the election is POV. It's too significant not to mention, though. Mostly just changed a bunch of tenses. 129.170.202.3 09:13, 11 November 2006 (UTC) (user kanmalachoa)
