[edit] Good job

I'm glad someone managed to add some information to this man's article. I prodded it in hopes that someone would assert some notability for the one sentence stub that had been here for over two years. However, as that was removed without any addition of information I felt I had to take it to AfD. I'm really happy someone was able to save this... and with sources at that! Oh, you were just prodding to bully other editors into editing? I hereby resign and toss out the rest of my sources, no matter how fascinating Hammerschlag is. I get tired of being bullied into editing because the subject isn't a Simpsons cartoon character. --Blechnic (talk) 02:27, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Well someone has to get you lazy bums editing. Seriously, thank you so much for doing this. It depressed the hell out of me to send a Holocaust victim to AfD. I'm really glad you helped. AniMate 02:37, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Frankly, I don't like being bullied into "saving" an article about a perfectly notable subject. He's not notable for being a Holocaust victim, by the way, but rather for being a lead contributor to Austrian modern literature. --Blechnic (talk) 02:42, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Additional information that should be added and possible sources

  • He also wrote satirical poetry, including some about Eugenie Schwarzwald, sourced to Women in Europe between the wars: politics, culture and society by Kershaw, and Kimyongür.
  • His cabarets were considered to be influenced by Bertolt Brecht, mentioned in passing in Benno Weiser Varon's Professions of a Lucky Jew, but Hammerschlag was critically aclaimed by some of his contemporaries and this should probably be found in a better source in German, but possibly also in modern Austrian literary criticism, especially post 1990.
  • His works are still popular and performed in Austria today,
  • and many of his works are available in German in modern editions.

I can't believe an attempt to speedy this article. Actually I can. He's not a Simpsons character so nobody has ever heard him. He's Austria's Tadeusz Kantor, except Hammerschlag had to die. (A literary allusion that will serve no purpose.) --Blechnic (talk) 02:40, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Well this was the state of the article for two years: Peter Hammerschlag was an Austrian writer and graphic artist. That's it, for over two years. Again, super glad you and Wafulz came along and saved the article. AniMate 02:44, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
And I didn't mean to make you feel bullied. I actually thought you were kidding the first time you said that. I didn't put this up for AfD to bully anyone, I put it up because there was zero context to this and no one had edited it for ages. AniMate 02:46, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Where does it say stubs should be deleted, and where does it say that an article hasn't been edited in a certain amount of time means it should be deleted? I bet there's a WikiProject Austria and posting there asking for help would have gotten the article well edited. I don't even read German and I found dozens of usable sources on-line in 30 seconds of clicking. What way did you think deleting an article about a very notable and important Austrian writer would benefit the encyclopedia? No article is better than a stub? --Blechnic (talk) 02:49, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
There's clearly nothing I can say. My thanks were genuine. Continue to be angry. AniMate 02:53, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I obey your every command. Oh, no, wait, I decided not to. --Blechnic (talk) 03:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
This has really been a day. I didn't mean to offend you. I didn't mean to upset you. I'm genuinely sorry. AniMate 03:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I accept this apology. Please, in the future, ask someone at a project to help clean up an article, or try to do it yourself, particularly if the subject is as notable as Hammerschlag. --Blechnic (talk) 03:14, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Will do, and thanks for accepting my apology. AniMate 03:15, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
