Petukhovo

Petukhovo (Russian: Петухо́во) is a town in and the administrative center of Petukhovsky District of Kurgan Oblast, Russia, situated on the Ishim Plain some 180 kilometers (112 mi) south-east of Kurgan. Population: 12,100 (2005 est.); 12,661 (2002 Census);[1] 14,584 (1989 Census).[2]

Petukhovo was founded in 1892 as a settlement around a railway station of the Trans-Siberian Railway. In 1899, Petukhovo merged with the nearby village of Yudino. In 1944, it was granted town status.
