Petrinum

The Bischöfliches Gymnasium Petrinum is a Catholic private school of the Diocese of Linz situated on mount Poestlingberg in Urfahr, which is a part of Linz.

On 2 July 1896 the building-works began. The Petrinum which nearly has 1000 windows soon became one of the leading schools in the monarchy. Also the Kaiser Franz Joseph I came to visit the Petrinum in 1903.
During World War I the school was a military hospital, and during the the Third Reich it was turned into a camp for soldiers. After the war the red army occupied it. In autumn 1946 education started again.
The school is now mixed, not boys-only.
