Peter Vredenburgh (September 12, 1837–September 19, 1864) was a Union Army Major in the American Civil War.
He was the son of a well-known judge. He took part in the war when Lincoln had called for 300,00 soldiers to take part in the war. Nearly 26 years of age, he became a Major. He then wrote letters to his family to keep his 18 year old brother from enrolling. He described the terrible conditions and the misfaults of war. On September 19, 1864 he died in battle.
