Peter Short

The Very Rev. Peter Short was the 38th Moderator of the United Church of Canada from 2003 until 2006. He was elected Moderator in 2003 and his term expired at the United Church of Canada's 39th General Council in the summer of 2006. He is succeeded by The Rt. Rev. David Giuliano of Marathon, Ontario.
Short was born July 22, 1948 in Kingston, Ontario and grew up in Arnprior and Braeside, Ontario. In 1978, he graduated from Emmanuel College, in Toronto, Ontario and was ordained by the Maritime Conference of the United Church of Canada. Prior to being elected as Moderator, he served in a number of congregations in eastern and northern Canada, most recently Wilmot United Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
