Peter Schlotter (* 1945 in Germany) is Teaching Professor of Political Science at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Heidelberg.

Studies in History, Political Sciences and German at universities in Frankfurt, Munich and Heidelberg. 1974 Ph.D. in political science at Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt/Main. 1997 Habilitation at Technical University Darmstadt.

From 1974 Schlotter was Research Fellow at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). Since 1984 he was Senior Research Fellow at PRIF. In 1990 he acted as a consultant to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the German Democratic Republic. Formerly, Schlotter was also Visiting Professor at the Universities of Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Heidelberg. Since 2002 he was Senior Lecturer of Political Sciences/International Relations at the Department of History and Political Science at the Technical University Darmstadt. From 2005 on Schlotter has been Visiting Professor of Political Science at Heidelberg University. His resarch interests include peace and conflict research, theories of peace and conflict, European integration, and conflicts in the Southern Caucasus region.
