Peter Lew

Peter Lew (born February 25, 1970), Australian businessman from Toorak, Melbourne, is the managing director of Witchery, a retailer of women's apparel with stores across Australia. He is also active in the management of the Australian franchise of controversial retailer FCUK. His father, Solomon Lew owns these businesses.
Peter Lew attended Mount Scopus Memorial College, a private Jewish school in Melbourne prior to attending Monash University Caulfield campus where he studied a Bachelor of Business degree in Banking and Finance.
He married Alla Lew in 2002, who is a year older.

Lew was appointed to the board of clothing retailer Colorado in 2002 after his father purchased 20% of the company. Concerns were expressed about Peter Lew's understanding of corporate governance issues when he told the Herald-Sun newspaper that he intended to represent the interests of his father on the board. He said "from my perspective it is good business sense for ARI to be represented on the board and I believe we will make an excellent team."
An Australian website concerned with corporate governance Crikey criticised this statement saying that "Peter Lew will arguably in my opinion be breaching the Corporations Act which says that directors must act in the interests of all shareholders - not just one. He cannot be there to represent ARI and stay within the directors duties imposed on him by the Act. Then again, there are loads of examples of directors who represent a particular shareholder but also recognise their duty to act in the best interests of the company as a whole. Presumably Peter Lew understands this."
Crikey said that Lew's father had "a blind spot for conflict of interest. Is it just a coincidence that this is the same attitude that led to various scandals about Solomon Lew's governance of Coles Myer and Premier Investments? Remember the Yannon transaction where Solomon narrowly averted prosecution for breaches of the Corporations Law and when ASIC's own secure room full of files on Yannon was burgled in circumstances which have never been explained?"
Lew resigned from the board of Colorado in 2004.
Peter has 3 children by the names of Chloe, Ruby and the youngest, Jade. All three attend Mount Scopus College, a private Jewish school in Melbourne.
Peter Lew is currently living in Toorak, Melbourne.
