Peter Kakos (29 August 197716 May 2006) was a Melbourne-born Greek-Australian football (soccer) player whose career was primarily centred around the Victorian Premier League as well as the National Soccer League with Gippsland Falcons during the 1999/2000 season.

24 hours after Oakleigh Cannons defeated Whittlesea Zebras on 14 May 2006, Peter Kakos died, twelve weeks short of his 29th birthday. After having been found unconscious at work, he was rushed to a Melbourne hospital where he died six days later in the early hours of Tuesday 16 May 2006. The cause of death was later determined to be a bacterial infection of the brain.[1]
