Peter John is a British barrister, a Labour Councillor in Southwark, South London, and leader of the Labour Group in the Southwark Council.
John was first elected councillor for South Camberwell in 2002. He became the leader of the Labour Group in 2004. Labour won the popular vote in Southwark in 2006, with nearly 40% of the vote, and is now the largest group on the Council with 29 members.[citation needed] He is involved in a number of local organisations including the Lambeth and Southwark Housing Association and the Beormund Community Centre.
