[edit] Biography

Jöback's musical education extends back to childhood, when he studied at Adolf Fredriks musikskola (Adolf Fredrik's School of Music). He continued his musical studies in high school at Södra Latin, and studied jazz at Kungliga Musikhögskolan (The Royal Academy of Music). Jöback also attended the Lasse Kühler School of Dance as a teenager.

Jöback is regarded as being one of Sweden's best male vocalists, and is well known for his many recordings and appearances in musicals. His big breakthrough came in 1995 when he played the character Robert in "Kristina från Duvemåla", by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA fame. He competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1990 with the song "En sensation", finishing 9th out of 10 competitors. In 1992 he recorded a duet with Swedish singer Towe Jaarnek of More Than a Game, which was chosen as the official song for the 1992 European Football Championship. Jöback is openly gay, and has stated that he is proud of it. In 2007, he recorded "Italy vs. Helsinki" in conjunction with Swedish indie band Laakso, introducing Jöback to a whole new audience.
