Professor Peter Coles is Professor of Astrophysics at Cardiff University.
His primary research interest is in Cosmology, and he is the author of a number of books on the subject.
He has previously worked at the University of Nottingham, Queen Mary, University of London, and the University of Sussex. He studied for his doctorate at the University of Sussex and obtained his first degree from the University of Cambridge.
He has previously lived in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, and Bethnal Green, London.
He played jazz in the Corner House in Jesmond as a kid and once got mistaken for Peter Beardsley while playing football. (Not for his footballing ability though).
Is known to say: "More on this later" and on a rare occasion "The SI units for elementary charge are absolutely crackers"
