[edit] Tony Lockett incident

In 1994, playing for the Sydney Swans, Caven made the headlines by being involved in a brutal incident with St Kilda full-forward Tony Lockett. Lockett elbowed Caven in the head and received an 8-week suspension from the AFL Tribunal.

Ironically, Lockett, a man who was much-maligned by Sydney fans after this incident, moved to the Swans for the 1995 season, where all was forgiven.
