Peter Canero (born January 18, 1981 in Glasgow) is a Scottish football (soccer) defender and midfielder, who last played for Red Bull New York of Major League Soccer. He is of Spanish descent.
Canero came up through the youth ranks with Kilmarnock in 1997 and stayed with the club until 2004, earning a £250,000 transfer to Leicester City. He moved to Dundee United on a short-term deal in 2005, before signing with the MetroStars in January 2006.[1] He was waived by the team, now known as Red Bull New York, at the end of the season, after playing very few minutes and being widely considered a disappointment for his salary.[2]
Canero has been capped for Scotland on youth levels, and was given his first cap for the senior team April 28, 2004 against Denmark.
