PET Real World Version
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PET Toys (Short for PErsonal Terminal(s)) were made by Takara (now TakaraTomy) and Bandai Japan in Japan in 2002. Bandai created the first PET and Battle Chips, along with a line of toys for the newly started Rockman EXE (ロックマンエグゼ/ Rokkuman Eguze/ Megaman NT Warrior) anime that was based loosely on the video game series of the same name (Rockman EXE/ Megaman Battle Network). Near the end of the first season of the anime, Capcom switched the rights of the toys to Takara. Takara made all PETs and toys from there on out. They released a total of six different PETs, all in multiple colors. The first PET was not able to connect with any future ones, nor could a user use a Bandai Battle Chip in a Takara PET.
List of PETs
- Plug-In PET - Bandai, 2002 - Used the shape of the second PET in the manga/games, and the first in the anime. It was relatively large and had a grip which could extend for people with larger hands. This model was only available in Japan and in only one color, blue. [1]
- Advanced PET - Takara, 2003 - Used the model of the same name from the Rockman EXE 4 Blue Moon/ Red Sun (Mega Man Battle Network 4) and the Rockman EXE Axess (Megaman NT Warrior Axess) anime. Takara's first PET, and introduced a very simple combat system. Shake the PET up and down over and over until a virus appears, and then send Rockman into battle. Battling consisted of slotting-in chips and shaking the PET more. It was considered boring by fans. - This model was available in most regions in three different colors, blue[2], red [3], and black [4]. Mattel made this model everywhere except Japan, where Takara made it. The chips for this model where region free, but not usable on Bandai PETs. This was the only PET made outside of Japan.
