Peshavarskiy vals (also known as Peshawar Waltz) is a Russian action film released 1994. The film is a compelling depiction of war in Afghanistan, based on actual events: the uprising of Soviet captives taken place in Badaber, 24 km from the Peshawar, second largest Pakistani town. A later version of the film, Escape from Afghanistan, was released by Corman with an English language soundtrack as a direct-to-video production in 2002.
[edit] Plot Summary
An American reporter and doctor (British and French in the original version) come to a military base in Pakistan to document P.O.W. conditions. While there, the Soviet prisoners rise up and take over the base, holding the visitors hostage and slaughtering their captors with no mercy.
