[edit] Battle of Greece
I've given the article a detailed peer-review in Talk:Battle of Greece#Informal review. I've also commented on its nomination for A-Class. I think the most important of my remarks is the need for a slight overall copyediting (+other things I've mentioned). I didn't do it. Since you are an American citizen, I believe that your English must be better than mine and you can do this job better than me!
By the way, you already know about the Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Greece and you are of course invited to participate.
Welcome in Wikipedia!--Yannismarou 17:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hello Periklis! I've found a very good source for the Battle of Greece, from the US Army's Center of Military History. I hope it helps. Regards, Cplakidas 11:24, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—and wherever—you'd like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Working on featured-level articles? We have some advice for nominators, and an A-Class review process to help check high-quality articles.
- Want to help with specific requests for assistance? Our requests page has extensive lists of requested articles, images, maps, and translations.
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 02:32, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblocked
I have unblocked you for the time being. We'll see how this works out. Best, Mackensen (talk) 18:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Perikli, I really hope you prove worthy of the expectations of all of us. Indeed, I hope there was no relation between you and that other case, as we were all convinced by your courtious manners in your communication and your valuable contributions. Keep up the good work, and remember that your closest friends will be those requesting the hardest punishment should they feel betrayed and fooled. •NikoSilver• 21:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

- Happy to see you unblocked! I think you should take into serious consideration Nico's remarks. As long as you continue your nice contributions, I'll also be here to support you. But if any connection with sockpuppeting is proved, I'll be one of the first to ask for your punishment. I hope this bad dream wil never become reality! Cheers!--Yannismarou 11:11, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Battle of Greece
Hey Periklis. Just wandering since you are the chief editors of the Battle of Greece if you have thought of putting it up for FA. If you do all the best, I support it. Kyriakos 06:46, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I am definitely planning to put it for FA. I haven't been on wiki lately but hopefully in a few weeks time I can focus on it and get it finally ready for FA. Best regards, Periklis* 02:25, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

- Per Kyriakos! Prepare the article for FAC!--Yannismarou 15:25, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Battle of Crete ref.
Hi Periklis*,
I noticed that, based on the article history, you added a statement to the introduction (on 15 October 2006) that said, "...and Commanding General Kurt Student was contemplating suicide." Do you have a reference for this assertion? I'm not having much luck in finding anything even remotely definitive. Thank you. — RJH (talk) 18:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for your message. I haven't been on wiki lately. Well, if you would like a reference you can find it on The Lost Battle, Crete 1941 by Callum Macdonald on page 197 of that book. The book can be found in the references at the bottom of the article. Callum Macdonald writes the following about Kurt Student: "After the war, he admitted that the hours before dawn were the longest of his life: "I waited with my pistol continuously by my side, ready to use it on myself, if the worst came to the worst." The quote can also be found in Crete 1941:Eyewitnessed. Thanks for letting me know, and good luck on improving the article. Regards, Periklis* 02:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. I'm not sure I would interpret that as contemplating suicide as much as a willingness not to be taken alive. — RJH (talk) 15:51, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Corinth canal during battle of greece.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Corinth canal during battle of greece.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:17, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Southern-europe-1940.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Southern-europe-1940.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:34, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
