Talk:Personal protective equipment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • I personally think that this page should be moved to personal protective equipment as it is both a better description of the kind of items involved (IMHO) , and is also official terminology (in the UK at least.) Any suggestions/objections?--Pypex 17:10, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
  • I agree; it's official in the US too. Making the move. --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 16:30, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] merger with protective suit

Protective clothing makes little mention of suits and clothing for the purpose of biological, chemical or nuclear clear up/handling which it logically should since suits are clothing. Since gloves, hearing protection etc are simply headings for links to other wikipedia articles which go into more detail, I think it would be more consistent to have a heading of "Protecive suits" or something with links to "NBC suit" and "Hazmat suit", and most of the information that is/was in protective suit is already present in "protective clothing".

however if there were a merger the information in "protective suit" about protection of nuclear and biohazard should be preserved, particularly the distinction between particle radiation and straight radiation limiting the use and design of some suits, thsi should be higher up somewhere in "suits" or maybe here in protective clothing, and not confined to NBC suit (where it is currently the only place it exists) which is why I made "protective suit" in the first place.

also as the author of Tag 26 where the design of the suit is of significant importance it would be good to have a proper distinction between Hazmat, biohazard and NBC suits, which wikipedia currently does not make. Fegor 00:55, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Work Gloves

My company recently researched and published information on work gloves: the different types of materials, different cuff types, and sizing info. I think it would be a useful external link for the article. Work gloves are an important item of personal protective gear. http://www.coxhardware.com/Products/Work_Gloves_Info.html Please take a look. 72.74.241.2 03:04, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Sally Seaver Shabaka, Active Lightning 30 September 2006

  • I combined the wikilinks "Particulate respirator (N95)" and "AirPowered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)" since they link to the same article and section. dwboston 17:30, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
