[edit] Perfect game on popular media
In an episode of "Touched By An Angel", a man appeared to be on the verge of bowling a perfect game, but his ex-wife, owner/manager, exposed it as a gag by blowing down the pins before he threw the final ball.
In an episode of "All in the Family", Archie came home in a good mood for winning a bet: that a person bowled "301", but it was a play on words - the player scored 300... and won. Mike Stivic's misunderstanding of the gag ruined Archie's good mood.
In one Sunday colour "Archie" comic, Jughead said he challenged Reggie Mantle, a great bowler, to a game with Archie, a poorer bowler, but Jughead had the lane rigged. Archie would throw one ball, and Jughead would hit the foot switch under the scoring table to blow down the remaining pins. Archie was nearing a victory, when Jughead made an untimely exit to get snacks. Betty took over to keep score, and her foot triggered the jet before he rolled his ball.
