As i argue elsewhere, it is likely that sources suggesting independent discovery of scandium by Cleve are confused by the well documented fact that he knew of the Periodic table and followed the Swedish rare-earths literature well enough to be the first to notify Mendeleev that scandium is Ekaboron. This article has never succumbed to that presumed error; any suspicion that he prepared scandia independently of Nilson's work, and within a few months of it, should be aired where that assertion as been rebutted, in connection with its removal from scandium#History.
