Pertuis is a commune of the Vaucluse département, in Occitania, southern France.
Located south of Luberon, this town of 20 000 people is also near Aix en Provence, a famous town. Pertuis has existed since at least 981, while a castle was first built in the 12th century. It has registered significant population growth in the last 50 years, with a three fold increase during this period.
It is the birthplace (January 13, 1982) of French fencer Erwann Le Péchoux who, although Occitan-born, is of Breton origin (as both his surname and last name show).
