Persistence of Time is the fifth studio album by the thrash metal band Anthrax. The album was released in 1990, by Megaforce Worldwide/Island Entertainment.
The band and Mark Dodson produced the album, which was released as a double album (along with Among the Living) in Germany in 2000. The album includes the singles, "Got the Time" (a punk song) and "In My World" (which was performed by the band on an episode of Married...With Children.)

[edit] Album information
Persistence of Time stands out among other Anthrax albums due to its unified lyrical focus on the need for tolerance and peace. The ghoulish and macabre elements of the music remain, and the album is as aggressive as ever, with a rapidfire beat. Musically it was definitely the band's most progressive and technical album, with the majority of the songs clocking in at over 5 minutes. It rode on the "technical thrash" movement of 1990 along with Megadeth's Rust In Peace and Testament's Souls of Black, Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss and others.
This would be the last Anthrax studio album to feature Joey Belladonna on vocals.
The beginning riff on "Belly of the Beast" is from the Celtic Frost song "Dethroned Emperor", which Anthrax themselves later did a cover of, which appeared on the EP Summer 2003 and as a bonus track on certain editions of Stomp 442.
[edit] Reception
Persistence of Time was certified gold by the RIAA. Its highest Billboard Music Chart position was #24 on the Billboard 200 chart.
New York Times (11/18/90) - "..the music carries the exhilaration of a desperate struggle."
