Persephone Books

Persephone Books is a small, independent publisher in Bloomsbury, London. Founded in 1999 by Nicola Beauman, Perspehone has a catalogue of 75 "neglected novels, diaries, poetry and cookery books, mostly by women and mostly dating from the early to mid-twentieth century"[1] in paperback, with two new titles released every six months. Each book uses a distinctive fabric, mostly designed by women in the early 20th century, for its endpapers and matching bookmark.
In 2007, Persephone released a magazine, The Persephone Biannually. The company also run a shop and book discussion group from their premises on Lamb's Conduit Street, and organise film screenings, lectures and readings.
