Coordinates: 12°56′20″N 78°43′48″E / 12.939, 78.73 Pernambut is a panchayat town in Vellore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Pernambut had a population of 41,323. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Pernambut has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 51%. Initially, Pernampattu was a tribal village dominated by Nawab Daryakhan (a descender of Aurangazeb - Mughals). And he gave Pernampattu to his daughter with the name "piyaribeti". Later on which came to be popular as Pernambut. Still, his descendants are maintaining some of the lands in the name of Daryakhan. His descendants are called Khazis in Pernambut.

Three Hundred years ago (exact date is not given) Jallo Jalal Jaffar shah Mughal (one of the son of Aurangazeb had built a Mosque with his own name and his father (Aurangazeb) gave permission to offer Jummah prayer there. Later on,nearly 219 years ago Nawab Daryakhan rebuilt the mosque in his own name. Still this mosque is under the control of his descendants.
