Permatang Pauh is a town in Seberang Perai, the hinterland portion of the island-state of Penang, Malaysia. The town is represented by Wan Azizah Ismail, president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (People's Justice Party) in the Dewan Rakyat, Malaysia's lower house of Parliament. Permatang Pauh was previously represented by Anwar Ibrahim, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and husband of Wan Azizah. The constituency of Permatang Pauh is one of 31 seats held by Parti Keadilan Rakyat in the current Parliament. There are two institutions of higher learning located in Permatang Pauh, namely a campus of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Politeknik Seberang Perai.
