Pergamino is a city in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It has a population of about 85,000 inhabitants as per the 2001 census [INDEC], and it is the head town of the partido of the same name. Its UN/LOCODE is ARPGO. (actually the average population is about 120,000 ) With its 3,000 km² (1,158 sq mi) dedicated almost entirely to agriculture, it plays an important role in Argentina's cereal production. As such, the city was declared National Capital of the Seed in 1998. Pergamino houses the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Virales Humanas "Dr. Julio I. Maiztegui", INEVH, and the Hospital Regional de Agudos "San José"
