Perfect North, or Perfect North Slopes, is a small ski area in southern Indiana. It consists of 4 magic carpets, 3 rope tows, and 5 chairlifts. The area has 22 trails, 2 of which are expert, 4 of which are most difficult(including a terrain park), 2 of which are advanced intermediate, 7 of which are intermediate, and 7 of which are beginner.
Perfect North was formed by the Perfect Family in 1980. It began with a single handle tow and two ski runs. Eventually, a chair was added where the handle tow was, and another chair was added. In the mid 1980s, Perfect North added their third chairlift, which added one blue square and two black diamond ski runs. Eventually, they added two more chairs, including their 5th chair, which opened up 4 new ski runs.
Perfect North Slopes lodge has also grown. There are now 3 sections to the lodge; east, west, and main. When the area started they had a small lodge, which is now the west lodge. Eventually, they added the main lodge, and finally they added an East Lodge. On the second story of the east lodge, there is a small skiing and snowboarding shop.
Perfect North did not allow snowboarding until 2002. Because this outraged many snowboarders, and since it was one of the last ski resorts in America to refuse snowboarders, Perfect North slopes opened their doors to the sport of snowboarding. Also around this time, they built a tubing area, which has now grown to have over 3 sections and 20 lanes. Perfect North Slopes has added two terrain parks in the last 6 years, mainly because of the presence of snowboarders. There is an advanced terrain park and a beginner terrain park. The more advanced terrain park, Audition, which usually includes several large ramps, several rails and other features. The smaller terrain park has two rope tows and has access to beginner rails and a small jump.
