Pereza is a Spanish Pop/Rock group. They are fairly new as a band but both members have been in the music industry before joining.
Rubén and Leiva, the two members of Pereza, have already recorded four albums: Pereza, Algo para cantar, Animales and finally Los Amigos de los Animales, which is a compilation album released in 2006, it included some of their best known songs, which they have performed with Amaral, Iván Ferreiro and Sidonie.
Six years ago, Pereza was formed by a bunch of relatively unknown people who lived for music. At that time, the group formed by Rubén (ex Buenas Noches Rose), Leiva (ex Malahierba) and drummer Tuli use to make up the band accompanied by journalist, Fernando Martín who at the time used to publicise their 70s rock style where they will give up playing. A head-hunter from RCA saw commercial potential in their spontaneity and he endorsed their first album Pereza (2001), that showed their limitations but he allowed them to defend it in over 100 concerts all over Spain.
Reduced to a duo, Rubén and Leiva started to gain fame with Pienso en aquella tarde, the first single of their second album, Algo para cantar (2002), which would be re-recorded acoustically with David Summers (from Hombres G) and Dani Martín (from El Canto del Loco), creating a fan base.
That is, in the words of Leiva, "the short but intense" trajectory that they revised in 2006 with Los amigos de los animales, an album in which they play again 15 songs from their catalogue together with a different cast of colleagues (indie, flamenco, rock pioneers, vertans and pop stars).
In 2005 together with other musicians like Iván Ferreiro, Xoel López, Quique González and the duo Amaral they participated in the project devised by SGAE, Laboratorio Ñ. For the project they enclosed themselves in a house in Buenos Aires along with other local bands in order to share ideas and compose.
On June 23, 2007 came out the new single "Aproximación" from their last album Aproximaciones (2007).
