Perdita "Perdy" Hyde-Sinclair (née Hyde) is a fictional character on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. She is played by Georgia Slowe.

Perdita Hyde-Sinclair seems to have it all. Beauty, wealth and brains - what more could a woman ask for?
But in reality, Perdita is nursing a secret. Perdy's marriage to Grayson might seem like a perfect match but her husband's wandering eye has caused her much anguish.
When we first met Perdy, she made a play for vet Hari Prasard – in an attempt to make her husband jealous. Hari was upset when he realized that Perdy had been stringing him along but pledged to be a good friend to her.
Perdy needs all the friends she can get – especially since she's got a formidable enemy in Grayson's much loved mother Rosemary.
For perceptive and uneasy Rosemary, the only thing Perdy could contribute that is of any use to the family is a child. Having suffered multiple miscarriages, Perdy finally came clean to Grayson and was touched when he told her loved her over anything else, including his mother..
But while Gray loves her, he can't be faithful. Viewers were shocked to discover that the lawyer had enjoyed a few infidelities with other men. And even his mother was well aware too aware of his sick pleasures.
Perdy suspected Grayson was cheating again, she decided to get her own back by sleeping with Matthew King – a move that infuriated him and which resulted in Matthew falling hard for her. She resisted any further attempts by him to seduce her, for now.
Meanwhile, in a bid to hide the massive rift with Rosemary, Grayson and Perdy moved out of Oakwell Hall and found their own place in the village. And upon seeing his wife being outshone by his mother, Grayson swore allegiance to Perdy– fuelling Rosemary's attempts to stir up trouble between them.
In the village, Perdy struck up friendships with Paul Lambert and Katie Sugden. But they were later to betray her by both sleeping with her husband.
In April, Perdy was thrilled when she found out she was pregnant again but after collapsing, she was taken to hospital and found out that she had what was called a cornual ectopic pregnancy and had to undergo a hysterectomy to save her from bleeding to death. When Grayson broke the news to his wife about her condition, she went into denial, but eventually reacted angrily and towards the nursing staff, very violently, to the news that would never able to have children. She told Grayson their marriage was over, but after some pushing from Paul, Grayson declared his love for her nd she sadly told him that she had her heart set on having a boy with the intention of naming him Sebastian Harry Sinclair. The two were brought together in grief and Grayson pledged to stick by each other.
After her operation , Perdy began to suffer from insomnia and mood swings. Her erratic behaviour caused Grayson to book her an appointment with the family doctor and she was diagnosed with depression and prescribed antidepressants. Though we earlier found out that this was the second time Perdy had been offered medication to help with depression. She protested that it was because of her brother's death, but her doctor warned her that her condition wasn't simply "reactive depression". Perdy continues to battle the illness alone, with Grayson failing to understand it and Rosemary eager to exploit it, however, Matthew King has already twigged something isn't quite right about the situation.
When the truth about Rosemary was revealed on Perdy's release from hospital, Grayson asked his mother to leave. Perdy had taken refuge at Home Farm with Matthew, who was gradually falling for her, but returned to her husband, much to Matthew's hurt. The following day, she discovered that her mother-in-law was still in the village and, although Grayson had no part in that, in front of everyone in the pub, Perdy told the villagers the truth of what had really gone on between the pair and Rosemary was deserted by most of the village. Perdy returned home, packed her bags and left Grayson to go to London.
In the days that followed her departure, Grayson got drunk and made a pass at Jonny's friend, Paul. Paul reluctantly turned him down and the next day, Grayson called it a mistake, blaming it on the lack of attention from his wife. Within days, Grayson followed Perdy to London the next day, eager to patch things up with her.
On Perdy's return, her heart has not been in her marriage. Unable to forgive Grayson for believing his mother over her, she grew closer to Matthew. Meanwhile, Grayson persuaded her to go ahead with their plan to begin a family by using friend, Katie as a surrogate. She agreed but further arguments with her husband led Perdy into Matthew's arms. After Matthew declared his love for her, Perdy agreed to leave Grayson for him, but with Katie pregnant, her plan to escape her marriage had to be put on hold.

After finding out that Grayson and Katie attended a scan without her and discovered they were having a boy, Perdy lost her temper and tried to attack Grayson outside the Woolpack. To goad her even further, when he saw the police outside, Grayson cruelly told her that he had slept with Paul. Unable to deny it, Paul confirmed it to be true and Perdy went to attack Grayson again, only to be arrested by Donna and Ross. After spending the night a cell, Perdy was released and after saying bye to Jonny, she left the village, vowing to return when Grayson let his guard down.

Perdy returned to the screens on April 30th, living in a scruffy bedsit, and hitting the bottle.
Grayson arranged secret meetings with her and they seemed to be in a position to patch things up. But what Grayson didn't tell Perdy was that he had not told Katie about the meetings. Katie, getting suspicious, followed Grayson but they agreed to let Perdy be a part of the boy's life.

Perdy will leave the show in September 2008 with producer Anita Turner confirming "We really do Perdy justice in the end." While Georgia has described her last scene as a "non speaking one"... Maybe they'll kill her off? That would be fun...
